A Call Of Faith

Verse of the day: 2 Timothy 1:7

Faith is a funny thing for a lot of people. To some it could mean a lot and for some it means very little or nothing at all. Faith to me is the foundation of my life. I definitely do not try to be one of those Christians that tries to shove everything down your throat. Allow me to explain with an open mind.

From a young age, my grandfather taught me about the Bible. When I was younger, I was intrigued by the stories. I wanted to spread the word, but I didn’t fully understand any of the teachings aside from Christ died for us and God gave us grace. I’ve gotten a lot of push back over the years simply for just talking about my faith. But the thing is, why is there so much push back for having a simple discussion. Not fighting or anything, just a simple discussion. I’ve seen people respect other religions, but when it comes to Christianity, those rules don’t seem to apply.

I never fully saw God move in my life the way I have as an adult. Now I talk about my faith all the time, even with those who disagree. What many Christians fail to see is, there is always a way to talk about your faith respectfully. I certainly don’t speak for all Christians as not everyone is all in your face about it. We do have those who we call “Sunday Christians”. Those people seem to go to church every Sunday and then treat everyone poorly every other day of the week. As Christians we are called to be more Christ-like. None of us are perfect that’s for sure; however, we can all try. I’ve seen many Christians over the years who classify themselves as Christians but yet they seem to lack basic respect and kindness towards others.

It angers me to see when other Christians can be so hateful and nasty to others. I am no perfect person by any means, but just knowing God is there makes me want to improve. In the professional working industry, we are always told to not talk about politics, religion, or money. Working in the hair industry for a little over 10 years now, you see people. Everyone talks about religion, money, and politics. I was reluctant at first to talk about my faith so openly until I had a client sit in my chair and asked me to pray with her. To me, it was powerful, I had never been asked by a stranger to pray with them. It truly moved something inside of me. From then on I was comfortable, I openly discussed my faith.

In the Bible, Mark 16:15 reminds me that we are called to spread the gospel. Nowhere in the Bible does it say to force people to believe or to be rude to others who do not have the same faith. I’ve always been open to questions people have about my faith. I don’t have all of the answers as no one does, but if I can help someone so be it. I encourage others to take a leap of faith and allow God in their lives. Ultimately, that choice is up to them and no one else. A way I like to spread the Bible is to put a Bible verse on the corner of my YouTube videos and put a Bible verse at the top of every blog post. If someone wants to look the verse up, they can. I will never force anyone to believe what I believe; however, I do encourage it.

Throughout my years since being an adult I have seen God move in ways I couldn’t even imagine. I have heard God audibly speak to me; I’ve seen Him move right before my eyes answering prayers that I knew only could’ve been Him. God has always provided me a way, even when I felt like I was drowning and didn’t know what else to do.

Last year was a year of trials and tribulations. I relied on God last year more than I ever have in my life. Every single time, He showed up. Last year was one of the hardest years of my life, lots of change and lots of sadness. Being able to share my story is one of the most important things to me. Of course I will make posts later fully explaining my testimony, it’s certainly worth the read.

I will always encourage others to allow God into their lives, if God can do it for me, why couldn’t He do it for you. Many people get caught up with church traditions and rituals. The great thing about Christianity, what matters most is you having a personal relationship with God. You can go to church every Sunday, that doesn’t mean you have a personal relationship with God. God won’t force Himself into your life, you have to invite Him in (Revelation 3:20). Don’t be afraid to come to God as you are, let Him work within you. It’s amazing to see what God can do when you allow Him, Proverbs 16:9. The choice is yours to make.

God Bless!
